About bloody time!

We first met five months ago, in a bustling café called Coopers. Heady with the excitement of meeting kindred souls (oh, and perhaps an excess of caffeine), we decided to meet weekly and do all we could to encourage each other to develop as writers. We had one rule - we were NEVER to apologise for the work we had produced. Of course, being British, we can't seem to help ourselves!

None of us are professional writers (yet!?!?), although one of our merry band has since been commissioned to write a book - hurrah! We decided from the start that we would set ourselves weekly writing tasks. We also vowed to set up a blog to share our jottings in the hope of attracting constructive feedback and maybe the interest of an agent - you never know your luck :-)  So here, at long last, is the Something Novel blog!

It was pretty nerve-wracking to read out our work to a virtual group of strangers but we critique constructively and have a lot of laughs along the way. As the months have passed we have found our confidence growing and are challenging ourselves more and more. Now, finally, we are sharing our work with you.

Each week, or thereabouts, we will post the task we set ourselves and publish the results of our labours. We hope you enjoy and that you would be kind enough to let us know your thoughts, which piece you enjoyed the most and why.

Also, if you have a writing challenge for us - a theme, topic, title, style of writing, etc - please let us know. We welcome all feedback and suggestions. Just keep it clean people :-) xxx
